The Fundació Joan Miró has taken part in the Apropa Cultura programme since September 2013. Its support of Apropa Cultura has led to the development of activities aimed at people with disabilities and groups at risk of social exclusion, as well as to a comprehensive reappraisal of the museum’s commitment to the whole of society.
Adopting an inclusive approach, the Foundation offers guided tours of the exhibitions and workshops specially adapted to the needs of different groups. It also provides guided tours and shows with a sign language interpreter and specific routes for the visually impaired.
Since it was first established, the Foundation has paid particular attention to the physical accessibility of its spaces, and it plans to gradually introduce the principles of universal design to the exhibitions it stages.
