This tour gives visitors insights into architecture by showcasing one of the most notable examples from the twentieth century in Catalonia, the building of the Fundació Joan Miró, designed by Josep Lluís Sert and declared a Cultural Property of National Interest. The building is an outstanding illustration of the convergence of the spirit of modernity of Northern European architecture and the light, forms and colours of the Mediterranean. Situated in Parc de Montjuïc, it stands like a cultural beacon, combining the constructional ideals of the Avant-garde and inspired by tradition and popular architecture, with the Mediterranean as a backdrop.
The visit consists of a guided tour through various emblematic spaces in the foundation (the courtyards, exhibition rooms, rooftop terrace and the library), with particular attention to the most important aspects, and culminates with a vista of the city from Tibidabo to the distant horizon out to sea, viewed from the upper rooftop terrace, which is rarely open to the public.
