The Fundació Joan Miró presents the exhibition Entourage, featuring photographs by Enric Tormo
In the archive of the Fundació Joan Miró there is a box of modern copies of photographs Enric Tormo took in the 1940s and 1950s of Joan Miró, his family and his professional entourage. The photographs selected for Entourage. Photography by Enric Tormo focus on this entourage, the artistic and cultural ambiences Joan Miró moved in, and with him Enric Tormo. Amongst those who were part of this context we find Joan Brossa, João Cabral de Melo Neto, Joan Prats, Sebastià Gasch, J.V. Foix and René Metras, as well as the engravers from Atelier Mourlot and Lacourière in Paris, who worked with both Miró and Tormo.
The images are spontaneous photographs portraying work and studio spaces, while also depicting Joan Miró in moments of leisure and socialising. With this body of diverse images, we are able to reconstruct an ambience, an exceptional environment that strived to irradiate progressive, quality art and culture during the first two decades of the Franco regime.
