The Board of Trustees of the Fundació Joan Miró announces an international search for a new museum director

The Board of Trustees of the Fundació Joan Miró has announced an international search for the future director of the Fundació Joan Miró. The term for receiving applications begins today, 12 June, and will end on 21 July 2017. The new director will be in charge of developing the strategic lines adopted and previously implemented at the Fundació Joan Miró and assume the artistic and executive direction.

A Search Committee will assess the professional merits of the candidates, their knowledge of the work of Joan Miró, as well as the achievements and distinctions endorsing their career, their knowledge of the local and international cultural and artistic scene, and their capacity for programming, leadership, motivation, financial management and representation of the institution.

The Search Committee is comprised of Ferran Barenblit, director of the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA); Brigitte Léal, Associate Director of the Musée national d’art moderne - Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Anne Umland, The Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller Curator of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; Miguel Zugaza, Director of the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao and former Director of the Museo del Prado, Madrid; and the following members of the Board of Trustees of the Fundació Joan Miró: Jaume Freixa, Josep M. Coronas, Joan Punyet Miró and Rosa Maria Malet. The committee will interview the shortlisted candidates and announce their final decision to the Board of Trustees. The Board’s decision shall be final.
