El Palomar is an artistic space, a work environment, a political positioning and an institutional reframing. Consisting of Mariokissme and R. Marcos Mota, El Palomar is a space in Barcelona's Poble-sec that is revising the hidden history regarding identity and genre.
This independent laboratory marks its own time, combining flexible, multiple identities in order to modify the usual ways of working with art. In El Palomar, desire is an engine for rethinking everything. Mariokissme and R. Marcos Mota are artists but also programmers; they act as curators, but also exhibition guides, and they can do whatever is required. Similarly, people who visit the space cease to be spectators and taken on multiple roles.
El Palomar's project for Espai 13 begins with a party: a celebration where there is time to explore other ways of speaking and acting; a space of freedom in a captive state, through queer theory and action. Then, on 16 March, El Palomar will host a presentation of the artistic actions that took place at the party, and the launch of the new website of Equipo El Palomar, namely Mariokissme and R. Marcos Mota.
