Michel François (Saint-Trond, Belgium, 1956) lives and works in Brussels. His art traces with irony and tenderness the many incongruent aspects of our everyday lives. Using different disciplines such as photography, cinema, video, sculpture and installations, and materials such as water, plaster, paper, etc., his work is in a constant state of metamorphosis and self-regeneration, devoid of any hierarchy or time structure.
François is presenting "Psycho-garden" at the entrance to the Foundation. He will convert the cedar of Lebanon situated behind Calder’s sculpture into a water spray, using the play of water and light to create various optical effects. For the artist, this means transforming the tree into a mental image through a series of different relationships: the tree with the water, with the sunlight, with the viewer and with the architecture.
This exhibition forms part of the triennial "Barcelona Art Report 2001. Experiences".
