Miró and the Foundation, in the Spotlight in Japan
From March 1 to July 6, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum is hosting the first major retrospective of Miró since the national museums of modern art in Tokyo and Kyoto paid tribute to the artist in 1966 - the occasion of his first visit to Japan.
The exhibition is part of the 50th anniversary of the Fundació Joan Miró and features a broad representation of nearly all the techniques the artist used throughout his career (painting, sculpture, textiles, objects, posters). Among the hundred works on display, the Fundació Joan Miró is contributing some of the most outstanding pieces through the loan of particularly significant works from the artist’s career.
Additionally, the Fundació Joan Miró is also taking part in Catalan Week at the Universal Exposition held in Osaka from May 27 to June 1, 2025, with two art workshops inspired by Joan Miró’s creativity and techniques.
