In this workshop, the multidisciplinary artist Maria Elisa Gómez suggests an exploration of gestures based on intuition and trust in the body, inviting us to create our own textile pieces inspired by the visual universe of Joan Miró and Henri Matisse, who are featured in the Fundació Joan Miró's temporary exhibition.
After initially looking at the works of both artists, we will begin our investigation through the body to discover the importance of inner listening and intuition when it comes to creating.
How can we allow our hands to free themselves from the desire to represent what is outside in order to make room for what is inside? How can we achieve the minimum expression of an idea or vision while maintaining its maximum potential? How can we create our own visual imaginary based on gesture?
Starting from the work of the two artists and their relationship to the world of textiles, we will use textile painting and embroidery as basic techniques to materialise our own iconography in textile pieces inspired by Miró's makimonos.
