Stargazing

Action related to the "Violence, Escape" section of the collection

"The spectacle of the sky overwhelms me. I'm overwhelmed when I see, in an immense sky, the crescent of the moon, or the sun."
(Joan Miró, 1959)

The Fundació Joan Miró, in collaboration with Universitat de Barcelona and the Parc Astronòmic del Montsec, is organising a public stargazing session in which participants will be able to see Jupiter and observe the different colours of the stars.

The activity is inspired by Miró's interest in the heavenly bodies, as evidenced in the Fundació's Collection, particularly in the works from the section entitled Violence, Escape. The stargazing session will allow visitors to observe the colours of the stars, which vary depending on temperature, to identify double stars, and to discover what globular clusters and open clusters are.

Admission will be staggered so as to avoid overcrowding and allow participants to relax and observe the night sky with the naked eye and with a telescope.

Between 9.30 and 11.30 pm, visitors will be able to join guided tours of the Joan Miró collection.
