This year, as in previous years, the u22 Barcelona young film festival is coming to the Fundació Joan Miró to present a selection of fictional, documentary and animated shorts from 12 to 17 September.
The festival, for which the Fundació Joan Miró is one of the joint organisers, will be presenting thirty-six audiovisual pieces selected from among the 350 entries submitted by young filmmakers aged under twenty-two. It will also include a number of associated activities such as workshops, talks, professional gatherings and round tables.
In this, its fifth edition, the festival will include retrospectives by Txema García Ibarra, Elena López Riera, David Moragas and Dostopos and will also feature the festival's official selection of shorts, among them La herida luminosa by Christian Avilés, Provocadora by Elia Lorente and Cleo vendrá esta noche by Aitana Ahrens.
In addition, this year u22 will be hosting the premieres of shorts by the new up-and-coming filmmakers Marc Camardons, who will be screening his shorts Traca and L'últim mort, Pau Peidro Vancells and Alejandra Sánchez, who will be showing their film Hoy me siento triste, pero mañana la veré, and Gavardiel Díaz Caballero and Musidora Escobar, who will be presenting Querencia.
The Fundació Joan Miró is thus reviving the original spirit of the CEAC (Centre for Contemporary Art Studies), a space for debating and exploring various artistic disciplines.
