The displaced image that takes form in the air is the starting point of Mirage, a performance that explores the optical illusion of the mirage. According to this effect, the deviation of rays creates the impression that the object we see, sometimes inverted, is in a different location than its actual location.
Olga de Soto shapes a scenic object that, as it is displaced and presented in a museum-like space, splits like the diffracted reflection of the displaced image through the layers of air in the atmosphere and offers a modular proposal.
Mirage - displacement is articulated at two different times and in two autonomous and dissimilar modules that explore different temporalities. In the first module, choreographic and performative work is confronted with the temporality and experience of the exhibition. In contrast, the second one represents the literal displacement of the scenic object from the theatre stage to the museum space, bringing the temporality of the performance into dialogue with the exhibition.
The Fundació Joan Miró presents the first of these modules, which is composed of a series of interventions, performances, and actions of a wandering and durational nature, in an approach that aspires to dialogue with the works of the exhibition. The accumulation, succession, and superposition of actions, materials, and bodies are, in part, reminders of an event in perpetual evolution, revisited and recreated on each new occasion, and whose duration varies according to each place and context.
