The fourth edition of Festival u22, the Young Short Film Festival, is being held at the Fundació Joan Miró and, for the very first time, will include international shorts.
By holding this event, the Fundació Joan Miró is bringing back the original spirit of the CEAC (Centre of Contemporary Art Studies), a debate and exploration space for a variety of artistic disciplines. Imbued with this particular spirit, Festival u22 is an initiative that is entirely organised by young people from different artistic backgrounds. Its aim is to create a space for young creators and young spectators to network and connect with one another.
From the submitted shorts, a committee formed by young people from different disciplines will choose the films for the Official Selection, which will be shown in the Fundació Joan Miró Auditorium from 14 to 18 September. At these sessions, the public will be able to vote for the best short films, which will be screened at a final outdoor cinema session on the North Patio. Finally, a jury formed by active professionals will vote for the best young short film of the year, which will be announced at the final awards ceremony.
Besides the screening of short films, the festival wants to be a meeting space, and that is why a series of parallel activities have been programmed. These include concerts by emerging performers and groups on the young Catalan scene, networking sessions, master classes by cinema professionals, retrospectives of revered directors and a closing party, among others.
In collaboration with Filmin and Masquevídeo.
