In the 1960s and 70s, her ephemeral, performative, humble and conceptual practices were ground-breaking in the Catalan art scene. Later on, she developed an interest in textile design, embroidery, and video art.
For Silvia Gubern, 1987 was a turning point in several different areas. While she delved further into studying the ancient religious traditions of the East and the West, such as gnosis, alchemy, and the Kabbalah, she set off on a path of inner exploration.
Although she did not leave art aside altogether, she shifted her main focus to writing free, automatic poetry.
