We will explore nature and put together a herbarium made of natural elements and our own drawings.
An activity designed and led by Inés Calveiro
Nature was always at the root of Miró's creative quest, and it was also a key element in the Fundació's conception. In this workshop, we will observe the beauty of nature and create our own plant collection mixing tree leaves, paint, drawing and paper collage. We will classify the species we draw into groups and make notes about when and where they were collected in order to build a herbarium that we can later expand over time. No previous drawing skills are required; all you need is the urge to experiment.
To start observing nature and collecting plants, you can walk up to the Fundació Joan Miró through some of the paths in Montjuïc that will lead you to the museum.
You can also create your own herbarium at home or wherever you happen to be. The video included here will guide and inspire you. The artist Inés Calveiro has put together detailed instructions and a template that you can use. Observe the vegetation around you and share your herbarium on the barcelona.cat/barcelonadibuixa portal.
This activity is part of Barcelona Dibuixa (Barcelona Draws), the city's major drawing festival now being held for the tenth year in a row: forty free-of-charge, face-to-face and online workshops led by both established and upcoming artists. The barcelona.cat/barcelonadibuixa website will be the meeting point for participants and artists, and will become both a space for learning and a major exhibition of the pieces created during the festival.
Barcelona Dibuixa is organized by Barcelona Cultura and the Museu Picasso.
