Accessibility

Today, accessibility is not only about eliminating architectural barriers; it also focuses on raising awareness of the fact that we can experience art and culture with our five senses. Culture is one of our fundamental rights, and museums have the responsibility of making it available to us. The Fundació Joan Miró aims to enable all its visitors to participate in the art experience. That is why it provides the public with:

  • Programme of inclusive activities for a diverse public.
  • Programme of specific activities for people with different sensory capacities or specific needs.
  • Trained staff to provide information about the diverse possibilities for your visit and about the resources we have available.
  • The foundation’s Accessibility Guide or document to prepare for your visit.
  • Hearing loop at information points and in the auditorium, library and some of the rooms.
  • Magnifying glasses and tactile materials for people with impaired vision.
  • Lifts and ramps for people with impaired mobility. In places, visitors in wheelchairs will require the help of a third person.
  • Transportable chairs, benches and rest areas inside the museum.
  • Two parking places for people with disabilities.
  • Reduced admission charge: free for people with a card accrediting their disability and 50% for people accompanying them. Admission is free for people accompanying a person with a disability if the accreditation card indicates a third person is necessary.

In addition, the museum’s spaces are accessible to wheelchair users and there is public parking reserved for people with reduced mobility. Accessible public transportation (bus and funicular) to the Fundació Joan Miró is also available.
