Description:
“Joan Miró. Parade of Obsessions” is organised around the preliminary drawings and sketches that Miró produced in 1968 for the show “L’Oeil Oiseau”, based on the artist’s work and creative process. They consist of some twenty images or signs that Miró described as his “cortège des obsessions”, and include female genitalia, the star, the ladder of escape, the sun and the moon, amongst others.
The exhibition aims to help visitors appreciate the artist’s language by presenting his vocabulary of signs and giving examples in terms of paintings, sculptures, lithographs and drawings so they are able to “read” Joan Miró and understand his work better. The Fundació Joan Miró’s Collection, which includes the artist’s sketchbooks and preliminary drawings, shows how these signs evolved in Miró’s work.
