This catalogue raisonné of Miró’s paintings covers seventy-three years of artistic work, from 1908, the date of the earliest identified painting, to 1981. It is in six volumes, each one representing different stages of his work.
Volume II has 328 entries, ranging from the stark paintings from 1931 to 1934 in a harsh style that prefigures the Spanish Civil War to the extreme concentration in the “Varengeville” series, from 1939, and “Constellations”, from 1940-1941.
Each reproduction is accompanied by a descriptive note giving the following details: title, date, technique, medium, dimensions, location of signature, handwritten notes on the back, collection, provenance, exhibitions, and bibliography.
